Dr. Anna Ndashe Katema
Dr. Anna Katema was born in Lusaka, Zambia. She started her medical career as a Certified Nursing assistant in Indianapolis, Indiana and later attended IVY Tech community college to pursue 2 years of nursing school, graduating in 2002.
In 2003 knowing her passion was always to become a Physician, she started pursing her Pre-Med classes while also majoring in Economics and graduated in 2007 from Indiana University Purdue university Indianapolis.
She attended medical school in Virginia at VCOM graduating in 2012 with Honors and going on to later specialize in Neurology with subspecialty focus in Vascular Neurology at Emory University in Atlanta. While in residency training, she also served as Chief resident.
She is currently working for Piedmont hospital Fayettville one of the largest healthcare systems in Georgia.
She has served as co- stroke program director at Piedmont Fayettville and also served as co- chair for the system stroke committee and vice chair for the system stroke quality committee from 2021 to 2023.
Dr. Katema is passionate about Education and giving back to the community including giving back to Zambia, as she believes “to whom much is given, much is also required”. She also believes education is the greatest gift you can give an individual.
Because of this she cofounded the Atlanta Zambian women with influence, a group which supports education of orphan girls in primary and secondary school in rural Zambia.
She is a recipient of several community and leadership awards including Organization of Zambians in America philanthropists and visionary award and Zambians promoting leadership in America community leadership award.
She serves on various boards.
She is Married to Mr. Jack Banda and is always grateful for his love and support.
She loves God, family and people.
In her free time, she truly enjoys sleeping, reading and dancing.
