HONDURAS PRESIDENT CALLS FOR ECONOMIC COOPERATION

The President of the Republic of Honduras Her Excellency Ms. Xiomara Castro says Zambia and her country should cement its relations and share economic agreements in areas of agriculture, mining and tourism.
President Castro has accepted the Letters of Credence from Zambia’s Ambassador to the United States Dr. Chibamba Kanyama, accrediting him as a Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Zambia to the Republic of Honduras, with residence in Washington, D.C. The Credentials Ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace of Honduras in the Capital of Tegucigalpa on Friday, June 13, 2025. In her opening remarks, President Castro, who was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Javier Bu Soto, expressed happiness with the renewed bilateral relations between Zambia and Honduras.
President Castro committed to cement the relations between Zambia and Honduras, further looking forward to economic cooperation between the two countries.
And Dr. Kanyama underscored President Hakainde Hichilema's readiness to work closely together with Honduras to promote economic growth and development through increased interaction, investment, cooperation and collaboration.
“Zambia recognizes and commends Honduras for the advances made in the area of Agriculture. Honduras is known to be home of renowned privately and state-owned reginal agriculture training and research centers. Zambia is equally making progress in this area and is looking for like minded partners with whom to share, learn from and move forward with in this and other sectors,” said Dr. Kanyama.
He indicated that under President Hichilema’s leadership, Zambia continues to focus on other countries with similar interest to create new working economic partnerships, particularly in trade, investment and tourism.
Dr. Kanyama reiterated that the two countries should work together and use its strength in numbers to advance positions that protect and promote their economies.
