Zambia’s Ambassador to the U.S Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula has urged U.S Zambian Associations to work closely with the Embassy in Washington D.C to enhance the welfare of Zambians living in the United States of America.

Dr. Simbyakula says Embassies are not only established to maintain and foster bilateral relations but also to promote and protect the interests of its nationals in their host countries.

“For this reason, I would like to maintain an open-door policy so that we are visible in addressing matters affecting our nationals in the diaspora,” he said.

Dr. Simbyakula said this in a live phone discussion with Zambian association leaders. The Ambassador said following his recent appointment to the U.S, he will in the course of next year conduct visits to various States to meet with association leaders and Zambians in the diaspora.

And the Zambian associations have welcomed the appointment of Dr. Simbyakula as Ambassador to the U.S. Speaking on behalf of the other associations, the Zambian Heritage Association of Chicago president Blair Siajunza said the diaspora are happy with Dr. Simbyakula’s appointment to the United States.

Mr. Siajunza says the Association in Chicago looks forward to Dr. Simbyakula’s visit to various States in America to enable him to appreciate the plight and concerns of Zambians in the diaspora. He also said Zambian associations in the U.S will early next year organize a joint visit to pay a courtesy call to the Embassy in Washington D.C.
