Minister Musokotwane addresses Organizations of Zambians Abroad Jubilee Independence celebrations

Zambia Finance and National Planning Minister Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane says despite the country having faced the debt crisis, the nation is coming out strong.
Dr. Musokotwane said Government has provided free education because of prudent and accountable use of public funds.
Dr. Musokotwane said this on Saturday night when he addressed Organizations of Zambians Abroad Jubilee Independence celebrations in Washington, D.C.
More than 600 Zambian across the United States gathered at the Hyatt Crystal City Hotel to celebrate the 60th Independence Day.
Dr. Musokotwane explained that the Government after restructuring the debt, has managed to remain with resources for service delivery, including providing the free education to the Zambian people which was promised.
"You all know how the country was in debt. This Government of the New Dawn and President Hakainde Hichilema has managed to restructure the debt. As a result, we have managed to channel resources to free education, " said Dr. Musokotwane.
He commended the Zambian Diaspora for showing patriotism to their country.
He said Zambia stands at a pivotal moment, with an ambitious road map to diversify and strengthen the economy.
Dr. Musokotwane emphasized the role the Zambian Diaspora plays in economic development.
He told the diaspora to consider Zambia as a land of opportunities where vision and hard work can make a tangible difference.
And Organization of Zambians Abroad president Sidiqu Geloo said the diaspora stands open and willing to work with Government.
Meanwhile, Zambia's Ambassador to the USA Dr. Chibamba Kanyama praised the Zambia diaspora for remaining United.
