The Embassy of the Republic of Zambian in Washington DC invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the positions of “DRIVER” and “CONSULAR OFFICERS”. The positions will be on a one-year contract basis.

1. DRIVER X 1

Qualifications
1. Must have a valid and clean Drivers’ License.
2. A minimum of five (5) years of driving experience.
3. Must be a United States Citizen or have a valid Work Permit.
4. Must be well versed in driving of sedan and Transit Van vehicles.
5. Completion of Defensive Driving Course.
6. Previous work experience with another Embassy or International Organisation will be an added advantage.
7. Proven knowledge in auto mechanism is an advantage.
8. Must have a good command of English

Job Description
1. Picking up and dropping off diplomatic staff for official duties.
2. Scheduling service and other routine maintenance or repair for Embassy vehicles.
3. Monitor mechanical problems and provide advise on course of action.
4. Maintenance of logbooks for vehicles.
5. Keep motor vehicles clean at all times.
6. Must be ready to work long hours.

Other Qualities
1. Must be courteous.
2. Must be a team player.
3. Knowledge of the DMV area

2. CONSULAR OFFICERS X 2

Qualifications
1. Qualification in International Relations, Public Administration, or a related field.
2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
3. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
5. Previous experience in a consulate or embassy setting is an advantage.
6. Proficiency in English; knowledge of Zambian languages is beneficial.
7. Basic understanding of immigration laws and regulations, both of Zambia and the United States.
8. Competency in office software and the ability to quickly learn consular management system.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for handling complex consular cases.
10. A keen eye for detail to manage paper work and ensure accuracy in processing visa, passports, and other documents
11. High level of integrity, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information

Job Description
1. Assist Zambian nationals with passport applications, renewals, and emergency travel documents and other related requests.
2. Process visa applications from foreign nationals wishing to travel to Zambia, ensuring compliance with immigration laws.
3. Provide information and assistance regarding Zambian legal and regulatory requirements to both Zambian citizens and foreign nationals.
4. Maintain records of consular transactions and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
5. Assist in emergency situations involving Zambian citizens, providing support and guidance as required.
6. Liaise with local authorities and other Embassies on consular matters.
7. Organize outreach programs to engage with the Zambian diaspora in the United States.
