A delegation from the Copperbelt University in Kitwe, Zambia paid a courtesy call at the Zambia Embassy in Washington, DC.
The delegation is in the United States for a series of meetings with partner academic and research institutions with whom they collaborate with and to establish new links.

They also met with members of the Copperbelt University Alumni based in the USA.

Zambia’s Ambassador to the U.S. Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula, S.C., says Zambia supports the African Union’s stance to harness the efforts of people of African descent all over the world to invest in African countries. Dr. Simbyakula says the African Union diaspora division serves as the focal point and hub for implementing the decision to invite and encourage the African Diaspora to participate in the building and development of the African continent. WASHINGTON DC- THURSDAY, August 2, 2018 – Zambia’s Ambassador to the United States of America His Excellency Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula has hailed the U.S government for empowering leadership among the young people through programmes such as the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders (YALI).

The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), led by the Embassy of the Republic of Zambia, Washington DC, had meetings with the Office of the Mayor, Los Angeles, the business community and the LA Chamber of Commerce on 27 and 28 September 2023.

The meeting at the Mayor's office which was led by the Deputy Mayor International Affairs, Erin Bromaghim brought together stakeholders from the U.S. Department of Commerce, a Venture Capital firm, the Chairperson of the LA Lusaka sister company committee, and officials from the LA city department of International Affairs, amongst others.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has commended Zambia’s efforts in fostering peace and security in the region. Mr. Tillerson has also hailed Zambia’s democratic credentials which have been witnessed smooth transitions resulting in the country’s vision for achieving broad economic growth. In his congratulatory message of Zambia’s 53rd Independence Day Celebrations, Mr. Tillerson says over the last 53 years, Zambia has continued with its development as a nation that shares many common values and interests with the United States.

October 10th, 2014 - Bank of Zambia Governor, Dr Michael Gondwe has been awarded the prestigious award of Central Bank Governor of the year at the Africa Investments and Business Forum Awards.
