Washington D.C., Monday, July 27, 2020 — Zambia’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Lazarous Kapambwe says Zambians in the diaspora play a pivotal role in supporting their families and communities adding that the spirit of togetherness and supporting projects of common interest to Zambia could enhance their contribution to the country’s development.

Ambassador Kapambwe has since urged “Zambians to strengthen their bonds of cooperation and do everything they can to give back to the country”.
He commended Zambians in the USA and in this instance the Atlanta Zambian Women with Influence for taking the lead in advancing “our diaspora community engagement and in turn our country’s welfare and development.”

He said this when he graced the Atlanta Zambian Women with influence (AZAWWI) Virtual Music Concert at the weekend.

“I would, therefore, like to urge you and all Zambians in the USA to strengthen our bonds and to do everything we can to give back to our country. I believe that we can do even more and contribute significantly to the growth of our country. And getting together in organizing such events is one way of doing that,” Ambassador Kapambwe said.

He also commended Zambian artists and performers who partnered with the Atlanta Zambian Women for making the Virtual Concert a success. The artists included Afunika, Chester, Rich Bizzy and Angela Nyirenda. Proceeds from the concert will support orphaned girls’ primary and secondary education in Central Province.
