USA Increases Financial Support to Zambia, Provides US$1.87 Million COVID-19 Financing

Washington D.C., Wednesday, 1 April 2020 – The United States is providing Zambia $1.87 million in immediate health assistance, funding which will augment Government interventions against the COVID-19 pandemic. The funding is a huge boost to the country’s COVID-19 response and will scale up programs and projects in risk communication, water and sanitation, infection prevention and control and public health messaging.

Speedy hippo chases tour boat in Zambia

A safari tour guide in Zambia had a big surprise when travelling on his boat after a huge hippo started to chase it at high speed.

The guide in South Luangwa National Park had to speed up the boat as the hippo launched itself out of the water.

Hippos are big creatures and can be easily angered. They can move very quickly and can be very dangerous.

Fortunately the boat proved too quick and everyone got away safely.
