U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has commended Zambia’s efforts in fostering peace and security in the region. Mr. Tillerson has also hailed Zambia’s democratic credentials which have been witnessed smooth transitions resulting in the country’s vision for achieving broad economic growth. In his congratulatory message of Zambia’s 53rd Independence Day Celebrations, Mr. Tillerson says over the last 53 years, Zambia has continued with its development as a nation that shares many common values and interests with the United States.

U.S. House of Representative Passes AGOA And Millennium Challenge Account Modernization Act

Zambia’s Ambassador to the U.S. His Excellency Dr. Ngosa Simbyakula, S.C. has urged the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry to expedite the finalization process of the African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA) national strategy. Dr. Simbyakula says this will help Zambia maximize the preferential U.S. market access that the country has enjoyed under AGOA.

U.S. Firm Seek To Set Up Energy Renewable Manufacturing Plant In Zambia

A U.S. San Francisco, California based company, RD Global, working with a Japanese company, Mera Group Corporation, plans to set up a manufacturing plant of energy renewable products in Zambia in an effort to mitigate the energy deficit in the region. Mera Group Corporation, Business Development Advisor Rune Gunnar Dige says Zambia has been chosen as a preferred choice of investment in the energy sector because of its geographical position among countries in the Southern African region.

A safari tour guide in Zambia had a big surprise when travelling on his boat after a huge hippo started to chase it at high speed.

The guide in South Luangwa National Park had to speed up the boat as the hippo launched itself out of the water.

Hippos are big creatures and can be easily angered. They can move very quickly and can be very dangerous.

Fortunately the boat proved too quick and everyone got away safely.
