The Government of the Republic of Zambia Is requesting Zambian nationals who are in the United States for a short visit or studies and are non-permanent residents but have had flights rescheduled or cancelled owing to the evolving COVID-19 situation to submit their names to the Embassy of Zambia in Washington D.C., with passport details, address and contact phone number in the United States. This information will assist in making repatriation arrangements back to Zambia.

May 7, 2014 - The Mission participated in Passport DC “Around the World” Embassy Tour on the 3rd of May 2014. Passport DC is an annual celebration of international cultures organised by Cultural Tourism DC. It showcases Washington DC’s embassies and cultural organizations with tours of more than seventy (70) embassies and numerous events which include street festivals, performances and exhibitions.

Speedy hippo chases tour boat in Zambia

A safari tour guide in Zambia had a big surprise when travelling on his boat after a huge hippo started to chase it at high speed.

The guide in South Luangwa National Park had to speed up the boat as the hippo launched itself out of the water.

Hippos are big creatures and can be easily angered. They can move very quickly and can be very dangerous.

Fortunately the boat proved too quick and everyone got away safely.
